In 1904 a man named George Edwin Taylor made history becoming the first black presidential candidate in United States history. Even though he lost the election he made a name for his self, and encouraged other black presidents to run. We even had our first black president Brock Obama who was also ridiculed like George Taylor, who came from a troubled back ground and had to overcome certain obstacles that many people wouldn’t be able to overcome, they would give up because they feel like the world is against them and would want people to feel sorry for them. George Edwin Taylor was born August 4,1857, in little rock Arkansas to a single mother named Amanda Hines. Shortly after him and his mother moved to lacrosse she passed away and he was orphaned and went into the 1900s version of foster care, he bounced around then managed to live with a farmer until he was 20 named Nathan smith who insisted George had a good education .
